Roeder resigned to Lita departure Empty Roeder resigned to Lita departure

The former England Under-21 player scored his seventh goal in 14 games for the Canaries on the hour mark to keep Roeder's side well clear of the bottom three in the Championship.

The bad news for Norwich is that Lita is likely to play just two more games before heading back to Reading.

Roeder said: "It would be terrific if we could find a way of keep him but Reading know his value and I am told he will be going back there in January.

"He's out of contract in the summer and that is the one month that they could sell him.

"That's one option but the way he is playing at the moment they might want to keep him until his contract runs out.

"There's a lot of money to be gained by reaching the Premier League and it certainly wouldn't do them any harm having Leroy around.

"These days, since the Bosman years, the player is boss and at the end of the day Leroy will decide what he wants to do for the next four-and-a-half months.

"The future is in his hands so we'll just have to see what happens.

"All I can say is everyone at the club has got huge respect for him, from the dressing room right through to the supporters.

"You saw today what he was all about. It was a superb pass from Sammy Clingan - if that had been played in the Premier League everyone would have been swooning about it - but there was also some top-quality play from Leroy.

"The way he made some space for himself was superb and the finish was just sublime, he never gave the goalkeeper a chance.

"I think both ourselves and Reading have benefited from him being here. They did us a favour by letting him stay for three months and we have returned that by playing him on a regular basis and getting him back to full match fitness.

"If he were to go back now they'd be getting a player who was fully up to speed with seven goals in 14 games which is a great return by anyone's standards."

Norwich took control after a poor first half and it was no more than they deserved when Lita struck after 60 minutes.

A glorious cross-field pass from Clingan set up the chance which he gleefully accepted, taking the ball away from defender Mark Hudson before drilling a low shot home.

Charlton struggled to make any impression after going behind.

Their best effort from the match remained a first-half shot from Hudson from just outside the box which Marshall did well to save.

Roeder was understandably delighted with the three points after seeing his side play well at Watford and Reading recently without any reward.

"In many ways 1-0 is a perfect scoreline," he said. "You score a goal, keep a clean sheet and take the three points. It would have been nice to have scored a few more but I'm sure the fans went home happy after that performance."

Charlton are without a win in 14 matches and in danger of being cast adrift in the bottom three.

Their caretaker manager Phil Parkinson said: "We came in at half-time relatively pleased.

"We also started the second half all right but when the goal went in it really knocked us.

"We started giving the ball away too cheaply and against a good passing side like Norwich that is really asking for trouble.

"The lads are an honest bunch and kept battling away but we were looking for one good moment to unlock the Norwich defence and it just didn't come."

He has done reallly well for Norwich, but they knew, he was a on loan player, but im sure they can find some one as good as that and get them on loan
